Aircon Trunking: What We Do
- Replace old trunking. Yellowed, cracked or warped PVC trunking replaced with new covers along the same route.
- Re-fix loose or fallen trunking. Covers that have popped off or bases that have pulled away from the wall are re-fixed with new anchors.
- Cover exposed pipes. Pipes left exposed after an aircon job are covered with trunking, with corner and joint pieces.
- Paint to match. Trunking painted the wall colour so it blends in.
- Box-up. A board box-up or L-box built around the trunking for a cleaner look, often along the ceiling line.
- Make good after removal. Old trunking removed after an aircon is taken out, with the screw holes patched. See hole repair.
We work on the trunking only. We do not disconnect, reroute or replace refrigerant pipes or drain pipes. That is work for your aircon installer.

For reference, PVC aircon trunking itself retails at about $12 to $25 per metre, depending on size. Trunking jobs can be combined with other small jobs in one handyman visit.
HDB Aircon Rules That Affect Trunking
- Installers. HDB requires air-conditioners to be installed by a BCA trained air conditioning condensing unit installer.
- Pipes run inside. HDB states that all piping for the air-conditioner must be run internally.
- No hacking through concrete. HDB does not allow hacking of holes or openings through existing reinforced concrete structures in the flat, and aircon pipes must not be embedded in reinforced concrete slabs, columns or beams. This is why most HDB aircon pipes run in surface trunking or a box-up.
- Condensation. Condensation water must be discharged into a floor trap in the flat, and pipe joints insulated to prevent dripping.
