Curtain Cleaning Singapore: Which Method Suits Your Curtains
The right method depends on the fabric and the lining, not on how dirty the curtain looks. We read the care label on each panel before we quote.
- On-site steam cleaning. The curtains stay on the track. Good for a refresh of dust and smells on polyester and blended fabrics. It does not remove deep stains or mould.
- Washing. For washable polyester sheers and plain cotton day curtains. The panels are taken down, washed, dried and re-hung.
- Dry cleaning. For lined, blackout, linen, velvet and other delicate curtains that shrink or lose their coating in water.
- Take-down and re-hang. Each panel is labelled by window so it goes back in the right place, with the hooks and gliders checked.
Blackout curtains with a coated backing can crack if they are washed hot or tumble dried, so we send them for dry cleaning. If yours already have peeling backing, cleaning will not fix it. Our blackout curtains page covers replacements.

How Often to Clean Curtains, and When to Replace Them
In most Singapore homes, a clean once or twice a year keeps dust under control. Homes near main roads or construction, and homes with pets or allergies, may need it more often. A quick vacuum with a brush head between cleans helps.
Cleaning makes less sense when the fabric has faded in strips, the blackout backing is peeling, or mould has stained the lining. At that point new curtains often cost little more than two rounds of cleaning. See our curtains price guide, or our made to measure curtains. If mould keeps coming back on the wall behind the curtain, our wall mould guide explains the cause.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does curtain cleaning cost in Singapore?
Day curtains and sheers are typically $12 to $20 a panel, and night or blackout curtains $25 to $40 a panel. A whole 4-room HDB with take-down and re-hang is about $280 to $450.
Is steam cleaning or dry cleaning better for curtains?
Steam cleaning on the track is quicker and cheaper and works for a general refresh. Dry cleaning goes deeper and is the safer choice for lined, blackout and delicate fabrics.
Can you clean curtains without taking them down?
Yes. On-site steam cleaning is done with the curtains on the track. It removes dust and smells but not deep stains or mould.
How long does curtain cleaning take?
On-site steam cleaning is done in one visit. Washing and dry cleaning usually take a few days between take-down and re-hang.
Can blackout curtains be washed?
Many cannot. Hot water and tumble drying can crack the coated backing, so blackout curtains are usually dry cleaned. Check the care label.
Do you fix hooks and tracks during the visit?
Yes. Bent or missing hooks are replaced and a sticking track is adjusted when we re-hang. A broken track is quoted as a separate repair.
