Shoe Cabinet Singapore
Custom shoe cabinets in Singapore, built for HDB and condo entrances. Floating, full-height, tilt-out or with a bench, with ventilated doors that stop smells in our humid weather.
- Built-in shoe cabinets typically cost about $150 to $300 per foot run in laminate, so a 4 foot cabinet is often $600 to $1,200.
- Ventilated doors and a gap underneath stop smells and mould.
- A corridor shoe rack is only for shoes and must leave a 1.2m clear escape passage, so built-in storage belongs inside the flat.

Stopping Smells and Mould
- Ventilated doors. Slatted, perforated or fluted doors with gaps let air move.
- Space underneath. A floating cabinet lets wet shoes dry before they go in.
- Moisture-resistant boards. Laminate or PVC-lined interiors handle humidity better than raw board. See laminate vs veneer.
- Absorbers. A charcoal or silica gel pack in each compartment helps.
Built-In or Ready-Made, and Where It Can Go
- Built-in fits the entrance exactly and can match the rest of the flat, such as a feature wall or wardrobe. See built-in wardrobes.
- Ready-made costs less and moves with you. Our handyman team assembles flat-pack cabinets and anchors tall ones to the wall.
- Household shelter. HDB says the shelter walls, floor slab, ceiling and door must not be tampered with, and fixtures that cannot be removed easily in an emergency should not be installed inside it. Only removable fixings are allowed there.
- The corridor outside. SCDF allows a shoe rack in a common corridor only for keeping shoes, and a clear escape passage of at least 1.2m must be kept. Your Town Council or MCST may have its own rules, so built-in carpentry belongs inside the flat.
- Fixings. HDB limits nails and screws to 6mm in diameter and 40mm in penetration depth.
HDB asks owners to use a contractor from its Directory of Renovation Contractors for renovation works in a flat, even where no permit is needed. Renovation works are carried out by our partner V On Construction Pte. Ltd., listed in HDB's Directory of Renovation Contractors.
